Giving Gracías

After 15 hours in the kitchen, a couple gringa blunders, and a lot of red wine, Rebecca and I cooked our first full Thanksgiving meal.

The menu:
-Turkey with merkén and orange peel rub
-Peach stuffing
-Sauteed grean beans
-Pumpkin soup with maple syrup from VT
-Mashed potatoes
-Apple pie

Three Chileans and four ladies from the states shared food, drink, and eachother's company. Going around the table sharing what we were thankful for (in Spanish of course) is one of my fondest memories thus far. I didn't think I would have to leave my country for this holiday to take on greater significance, but indeed I found myself more thankful than ever for my family both at home and abroad.
